Tavares Taylor Charities, Inc. hosts and partners with a number of organizations and corporations to help improve literacy, combat poverty, hunger and provide basic needs. Below are a few of our programs. Be sure to view all of our accomplishments on our Reports page:

PASS THE TORCH LITERARY & LECTURE SERIES

LITERARY SERIES:

The Pass The Torch Literary series is a collection of guides and e-books, that provide readers with an electronic toolkit of empowerment. Topics consist of Financial Empowerment, Technology, History, Professional Development, Civic Engagement and Health and Wellness.

LECTURE SERIES:

The Pass The Torch Lecture series brings senior and up-and-coming scholars and community leaders to various venues around the area. The lecture serves:

  • To examine critical issues involving or affecting those that are affected by illiteracy, poverty and hunger.
  • To dialogue with a variety of subject matter experts and key community and world leaders.
  • To foster and nurture current and future leaders within the community.

ONCE UPON A TIME BOOK PROGRAM

The mission of the Once Upon A Time book program is to promote literacy among all children. With a special emphasis on developing the critical early foundation of at-risk and low-income preschool-aged children; we donate books and other educational resources to schools and daycares.

SUITED FOR RELAUNCH

Our Suited for Relaunch program provides men and women with suits, dresses and other professional attire for entry or re-entry into the workforce.

SUNDAY SERVICE

Sunday Service is our monthly outreach program that provides hot meals, Taylor Toiletry kits, clothes, books and more to unsheltered and deserving families.

VOTER REGISTRATION INITIATIVE

Tavares Taylor Charities, Inc. seeks to encourage participation in politics and government through its voter registration drives. During many of our community events or fundraisers, we set up a voter registration table with the intention to register every eligible unregistered voter possible.
